Our Mission
iLoveTurtle publishes practical, evidence-based care guides for pet turtle and tortoise owners. We exist to replace conflicting forum advice and outdated care sheets with information you can actually act on.
Who We Are
iLoveTurtle is an independent publisher. Our content is written by experienced reptile keepers and science writers, and is based on published herpetological and veterinary literature rather than personal opinion alone.
Written by experienced keepers
Our writers have kept and bred turtles and tortoises for years. Species guides and care articles reflect first-hand husbandry experience combined with published sources.
Based on published veterinary and herpetological sources
Health articles are written using peer-reviewed literature and standard veterinary references. Where a claim depends on veterinary judgment, we cite the source. We are not a substitute for a licensed exotic animal veterinarian, and we say so on every health page.
Our Editorial Process
- Researched against published sources. We cite herpetology textbooks, peer-reviewed papers, and recognized veterinary references.
- Written by subject-matter writers. Not outsourced to generic content farms.
- Checked for factual accuracy before publication. Every health article is verified against standard veterinary references (Mader, Carpenter, ARAV guidelines, and similar).
- Updated over time. Each article shows a "last updated" date. When new research or best practice emerges, we revise.
What We Won't Do
- We will not invent statistics, read counts, or article totals.
- We will not claim medical review by a veterinarian unless a licensed veterinarian has actually reviewed the article.
- We will not recycle content from other sites.
- We will not recommend products just because a brand pays us.
Independence & Funding
iLoveTurtle is reader-supported. We may earn a commission if you buy through some affiliate links, but those links never influence what we recommend. Editorial decisions are made independently of any commercial relationship.
